- AI/ML Engineer @ SDA TAP Lab
Summary
As a part of the SDA TAP Lab, Cohort 2 USC Team, I had the privilege of working with the U.S. Space Force to develop a real-time alert system for notifying U.S. Space Force of critical events. With zero space domain knowledge, my first goal was to get a better understanding. After interviewing military and industry experts, I was able to understand the problem space, and deployed open-source software to accomplish the task.
Brief details
- Co-led over 60 interviews with military and industry experts, while deploying open-source software to enhance space launch characterization for U.S. Space operations and presenting to 70+ investors with notable interest
- Fine-tuned YOLOv9 on open-source satellite imagery to detect small objects with a 0.48 Intersection Over Union(IOU), a 20% improvement over previous models, enhancing resolution and accuracy of surveillance data
- Enhanced satellite imagery analysis by 40% by integrating advanced analytics and embedding space comparisons; coordinated cross-functional efforts to develop a real-time alert system for notifying U.S. Space Force of critical events
